MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
(i) ME/MTech degree or equivalent in an appropriate area with minimum CPI of 6.5 (60% marks) OR

(ii) BE/B.Tech with an excellent academic record and with CPI of at least 8(70% marks) for admission in Engineering Deptts OR

iii) MSc in appropriate area with minimum CPI 8(70% marks) for admission in Engg Deptts.

(iv) MSc in Science with relevant discipline with first class or a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent for admission in Science Deptts.

(v) MA with a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent for admission in Humanities and Social Science Deptt.

(vi) A relaxation of 5% or 0.5 in CGPA/CPI on a 10 point scale may be extended to the candidates belonging to SC/ST category.

Reservation as per Govt. of India norms.

Assistantship to regular full-time students with valid GATE/NET score may be awarded subject to availability of fund.The details of regulations, fee structure and application forms (downloadable) are given herewith (website) The date of interview, short listed candidates for attending interview shall be available in the website in due course. Appointment of JRF under Partner Group Project jointly funded by Max Planck Institute, Germany and D.S.T., India

UGC-DAE Consortium for Scientific Research, Indore (www.csr.ernet.in) invites applications for one JRF position under the Partner Group project jointly funded by Max Planck Institute, Germany and Department of Science and Technology, India.

Duration of the project is initially for a period of three years, extendable to five years and the selected students will be registered for Ph.D.

PROJECT DETAILS
The project involves investigation of the electronic structure of low dimensional systems (nano-wires, epitaxial thin films) using photoemission spectroscopy and related techniques. The work will be carried out in both Surface Physics Laboratory in UGC-DAE CSR, Indore as well as in Fritz Haber Institute, Berlin. The emolument will be Rs. 12,000 p.m. + 15% HRA. Only UGC-CSIR NET or JEST qualified students who have passed MSc. in Physics with ≥55% marks not before 2006 will be considered. Students whose final MSc. results are awaited may also apply.

SELECTION
Selection will be done on the basis of an interview and academic background. If more than one deserving candidates are found, they may be considered for other positions in the institute.

Admission to Ph.D. Programme for the Academic Year 2009- 2010
National Institute of Immunology (NII) invites applications for its Ph.D. programme. Cutting-edge research at the Institute encompasses broad interdisciplinary areas -
1) Chemical Biology 2) Genetics & Cell Signaling 3) Immunity & Infection 4) Molecular & Cellular Biology 5) Reproduction & Development 6) Structural & Computational Biology.
Minimum qualifications:
  1. M.Sc. in any branch of Science (e.g. Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics) or M.Tech. or M.B.B.S. or M.V.Sc. or M.Pharm. or equivalent qualification recognized by Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi, is required.
  2. First Division or equivalent grade or at least 60% of aggregate scores in all major examinations from Senior Secondary Certificate (10+2) onwards is required.
  3. Candidates appearing for the qualifying examination this year may also apply; they will be admitted provisionally pending satisfactory fulfillment of the above requirements.
  4. Reservations are as per statutory norms.
Selection procedure :
  1. Candidates fulfilling minimum requirements will be invited for a written qualifying test at their own expenses on February 15, 2009 at either of the following four centres - Bangalore, Delhi, Kolkata & Pune. The Institute shall try to accommodate the choice of centers indicated by the candidate. However, in case of non-availability of a seat at the centers chosen by the candidate, the candidate shall be required to appear for the written qualifying test at the centre allotted by the Institute.
  2. The written test is aimed at evaluating abilities to comprehend, analyse and reason. Therefore, the examination is General Aptitude Test & no separate syllabus is prescribed.
  3. The results of the written test along with the details of the interviews shall be available on the website of the Institute as well as on the Notice Board of the Institute on February 20, 2009.
  4. Interviews will be held at National Institute of Immunology, New Delhi from June 4-7, 2009. The Interviews will be held in two stages. The candidates will be short-listed for the final interview based on their performance in the first interview. Final interview will be held in the last two days.
  5. The selected candidates would be paid second class train fare for joining the Ph.D. programme on providing the proof of journey.
  6. Candidates selected after the interviews will be enrolled for the Ph.D. programme of NII in academic affiliation with JNU, New Delhi.

PROCEDURE FOR SUBMISSION OF ONLINE APPLICATION

FACILITY FOR ONLINE APPLICATION SHALL BE AVAILABLE UP TO 4TH DECEMBER 2008. HOWEVER THE APPLICANTS HAVE TO ENSURE THAT THE HARD COPY OF THE ONLINE RECEIPT AND ADMIT CARD FORM REACHES NII ON OR BEFORE 8TH DECEMBER 2008.

Instructions :

  1. Please read the following instructions carefully before starting the online registration.
  2. Obtain a Demand Draft for Rs. 100/- (Rs. 50/- in case of SC/ST candidates, provided relevant documentary proof is enclosed) of six months validity in favour of ‘Director, National Institute of Immunology’, payable at Canara Bank, Jit Singh Marg, New Delhi.
  3. Name of the Candidate and date of birth should be entered exactly as shown in the Senior Secondary School Certificate or equivalent.
  4. After filling the required details in the online application form, a receipt and Admit Card form will be generated in the PDF format. The applicant has to take a hard copy printout of these receipt as well as the Admit Card form, sign on the relevant places, paste photographs, attach the following documents and send them by regular post to the address given below.

  2. Two self addressed stamped (Rs. 5/-) envelopes (10 cms X 22 cms)

  2. The online application will be eligible for further processing only after the receipt of the signed hard copy of online receipt along with all enclosures at the institute before the closing date i.e. December 8, 2008.
  3. After complete processing of the applications, the admit card with signature and seal of competent authority will be mailed back to the candidate.
  4. Incomplete applications in any respect will be summarily rejected & no correspondence in this regard will be entertained. Applications received after the closing date will not be entertained on any ground including postal delays. The decisions of the Admission Committee will be final and binding and no correspondence will be entertained in this regard.

Financial Assistance
A few research fellowships are available to full time research scholars who are not receiving any financial support/ scholarship from other Agencies or State or Central Governments. They are required to assist the Department in the academic work for at least 8 hours per week as per guidelines issued by the Ministry of Human Resources and Development, Govt. of India, in addition to satisfying other conditions for the award / renewal of the fellowship.

How to apply?
1. Use only the appropriate Application Forms downloaded from NITC Website.
2. Candidates applying for admission to different departments will have to write the corresponding codes in the appropriate columns in the Application Form.
3. A passport size photograph taken not earlier than 3 months is to be affixed on the Application Form. The photo in the application should be self-attested. Additional six copies of the same photograph and one stamp size photograph should be produced at the time of counseling/admission.
4. Demand Draft towards application fee (Rs. 600/- for Open and External candidates, Rs. 300/- for SC/ST candidates drawn in favour of “Director NIT Calicut” payable at State Bank of India, NIT Calicut Branch (Code No. 2207) is to be enclosed.

The Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) are institutions of national importance established through an Act of Parliament. The IITs are well known, the world over, for quality education in engineering and science, and research in frontier areas. In due course, JAM is also expected to become a benchmark for normalising undergraduate level science education in the country.
The M.Sc., M.Sc.-Ph.D. Dual degree and other post-B.Sc. programs at the IITs offer high quality post-B.Sc. education in respective disciplines, comparable to the best in the world. The curricula for these programs are designed to provide the students opportunities to develop academic talent leading to challenging and rewarding professional life. The curricula are regularly updated at each IIT. Interdisciplinary content of the curricula equips the students to utilize scientific knowledge for practical applications. INTRODUCTION

The Indian Institutes of Technology are institutions of national importance established through an Act of Parliament. These institutes play a leading role in technological manpower development and have research programmes comparable to the best in the world. The admissions to the Undergraduate Programmes at these institutions for all Indian and Foreign nationals are made through the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE).

Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, is one of the oldest institutions devoted to education in various engineering disciplines. Indian School of Mines University, Dhanbad, is the oldest institution of its kind in India. The admissions to the Undergraduate Programmes at these institutions are also made through JEE.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR FILLING-UP THE APPLICATION FORM (ONLINE)
The candidate can apply for JEE-2009 online through the JEE webpage during the period from 8:00 AM (IST) of 19th November 2008 to 5:00 PM (IST) of 24th December 2008.

Candidates should carefully read the instructions before filling up the Application Form given in the Information Brochure. While filling the application form, keep all the information with you as per the check list given below. The mode of payment of fee of Rs. 500/- for SC/ST/PD/Female candidates, and Rs. 1000/- for all other candidates is only true a crossed Demand Draft drawn on a nationalized bank in favor of Chairman, JEE, IIT Madras payable at Chennai.
Please write the name of the candidate and the application number in the reverse side of the demand draft after online submission of application. The candidate is required to take a printout of the filled-up Application Form. On the printed application form, a good quality recent colour photograph should be pasted at the appropriate place and the candidate and his/her parent/guardian should affix their signatures in the boxes provided. Candidates should write their name and application number in the reverse side of the photograph before affixing.

The Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) Pilani is an institution declared as Deemed to be University under Section 3 of the UGC Act. Applications are invited for admission in the second semester starting from January 2009 to the following Programmes.

Admissions to Higher degree Programmes except MPH are based on the performance of the candidates in the Computer based Online Test conducted by BITS followed by interviews of shortlisted candidates. The tests will be held at Pilani & Goa. The tests will have objective type questions (multiple choice) only and will be conducted during 20th - 21st December 2008.

Further short listed candidates will be asked to come to Pilani for interview at their own cost and the final selection is based on the performance in the tests and interviews.

JEST is conducted for selecting candidates to be interviewed for admission to Ph. D. Programmes in Physics/ Theoretical Computer Science in these institutions in the country.

Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology(IIST), which is a deemed to be university, was set up under Indian Space Research Organisation, Department of Space, to offer undergraduate programmes in Space Technology and integrated masters in Applied Science. The institute offers post graduate programme, doctoral programme and post doctoral fellowship in Space Technology, Space Science and Space Applications. The programmes has customised curricula to suit the high technology requirements of ISRO. The maiden academic programme has commenced from the academic year 2007-08, in a full-fledged alternate campus adjunct to the world renowned Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre at Thiruvananthapuram. The faculty has the unique opportunity of associating themselves in high technology R & D activities of the organization.

The institute needs Assistant Professors/Professors in the areas of Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.

Age limit: 40 years for Assistant Professor and 45 years for Professor.

Eligibility & Minimum Qualifications

An applicant possessing the following qualifications in appropriate area shall be eligible to apply for admission for Ph.D. programme of the Institute.Masters degree in Engineering / Technology/Architecture/Urban & Rural Planning/Sciences/ Humanities & Social Sciences and Management in respective discipline or equivalent with a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 6.00 on a 10 point scale or equivalent as determined by the Institute wherever letter grades are awarded; or 60% marks in aggregate (of all the years/ semesters) where marks are awarded.

OR

Applicants with B.Tech./B.Arch. degree or equivalent in respective discipline with excellent academic record (with a minimum CGPA of 7.00 on a 10 point scale or equivalent or 70% marks) may be considered eligible for admission.

Applicants for admission for full-time studies who do not possess a M.Tech./M.Arch./MURP degree or equivalent in the relevant field must have a valid GATE score (at least 75 percentile) for Engineering / Technology/ Science disciplines or must have qualified national level fellowship examinations such as NET (JRF/LS) conducted by UGC/CSIR for Science/ Humanities and Social Sciences disciplines.

Engineering/Architecture graduates from any IIT/erstwhile University of Roorkee having CGPA Score > 8.00 or marks > 80% are also eligible for admission without GATE score .

Reservation/Relaxation

a) Relaxation in eligibility requirement in terms of minimum CGPA upto 5.5 or 55% marks in aggregate will be given to SC/ST, physically handicapped applicants and those with M.A. English (for admission to Ph.D. English in the Deptt. of Humanities and Social Sciences of IIT Roorkee) as per Institute regulations.

b) Person with Disability (PD) applicants may be permitted relaxation in eligibility requirement of CGPA to 5.5 on a 10 point scale or equivalent, or to 55% marks as per regulations.

c) For the SC/ST applicants minimum GATE score requirement will be 50 percentile.

d) Reservation for OBC/SC/ST will be as per Govt. of India directive/Institute rules.
