On behalf of the participating Universities, the Jawaharlal Nehru University will hold Combined Biotechnology Entrance Examination on Monday, the 18th May, 2009, for admission to (1) M.Sc. 3.M.Tech(Biotechnology)Programme
M.Tech (Biotechnology) Programme at (1) Anna University, Chennai; (2) Cochin University of Science and Technology, Kochi, Kerala; & (3) West Bengal University of Technology, Kolkata
Eligibility: Minimum 60% marks or equivalent grade in any one: B.Tech/B.E. in Chemical Engineering/Biochemical Engineering, Industrial Biotechnology, Leather Technology, Biotechnology, Biomedical Engineering, B. Pharma, Chemical Technology, OR M.Sc. in Biotechnology, Life Sciences, Botany, Zoology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Genetics, Biophysics, Microbial Genetics and Bioinformatics. (Also B.Tech/B.E in Electrochemistry, Bioengineering and M.Sc. in Chemistry & Physics in case of Anna University; M.Sc in Marine Biotechnology, Marine Biology/Aquatic Biology & Fisheries, Environmental Biotechnology in case of Cochin University of Science and Technology and M.Sc. in Bioengineering in case of West Bengal University of Technology).
IMPORTANT NOTE: (for candidates of all categories) Only those candidates who have passed the qualifying examinations in 2007 or thereafter (including those who are appearing in 2009) are eligible to apply. In other words, those who have passed the qualifying examination PRIOR TO 2007 are not eligible to apply for taking admission to any of the programme i.e., (1) M.Sc. (Biotechnology); (2) M.Sc.Agri./M.V.Sc(Biotechnology) and (3) M.Tech (Biotechnology).
Reservation/Concession :
a) Reservation: 15%, 7½% and 3% of seats shall be reserved for SC, ST and Physically Challenged (Handicapped) (PH) candidates respectively. All the SC/ST and PH candidates who have passed the qualifying examination are eligible to apply irrespective of their percentage of marks in the qualifying degree examination. OBC reservation, wherever applicable, will be implemented as per the policy of each participating University.
b) Concession for Kashmiri Migrants: 10% marks will be added to the overall marks scored by a Kashmiri Migrant candidate in the entrance examination. After adding 10% marks, in case he/she is covered in the cut-off point in the merit list, he/she will be offered admission strictly in accordance with his/her inter-se merit alongwith other candidates subject to his/her meeting the minimum prescribed eligibility requirements and also subject to his/her producing valid registration documents issued by the notified authorities certifying the candidate's Kashmiri Migrant status.
Tuition Fee/ Scholarship:
Fee shall be charged from the admitted candidates as per the fee structure of the concerned University. Candidates selected for admission to those of the participating Universities, which are supported by the Department of Biotechnology (Govt. of India), are generally eligible for scholarship at the rates prescribed by the Dept. of Biotechnology.
Candidates may please note that the M.Sc. Biotechnology programme being offered at Punjabi University, Patiala and Thapar University, Patiala, is currently not being financially supported by the Department of Biotechnology. Therefore, the award of scholarships, if any, shall be governed by the rules prevailing in these Universities. Students admitted to Gulbarga University will not get any scholarship.
Procedure for getting the form :
In Person: Sets of Application Form and Prospectus can be obtained personally on cash payment of Rs.200/- per set from any of the participating University as shown above.
By Post: Those willing to get the Application Form by post should send their request only to the Deputy Registrar (Admissions), Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi-110067, alongwith a Bank Draft (valid for six months) of Rs.260/-(for one set of Application Form and Prospectus). The Bank Draft should be drawn in favour of "Jawaharlal Nehru University" payable at New Delhi. The request should accompany a self-addressed unstamped envelope of the size of 28x20 cms. indicating clearly on the top of the self addressed envelope the programme for which Application Form is required, i.e., "M.Sc. The University will hold Entrance Examination on May 15, 16, 17 and 18, 2009 for admission to various full-time programmes of study at the following 51 cities
Eligibility Details:
A) M.Phil./PH.D. Programme is offered by the following Centres which have their curricular and research work organized on interdisciplinary basis with a focus on some major problems of study:
Centers: Economic Studies and Planning; Historical Studies; Political Studies; Regional Development (Geography, Economics and Population Studies); Social Systems (Sociology); Educational Studies (Psychology, Sociology, Economics and History of Education); Social Medicine and Community Health; Philosophy and Studies in Science Policy.
Eligibility: (a) For Centre for Studies in Science Policy: Masterâs degree in Social Science or Humanities or Law or Management with 55% marks or Masterâs degree in Natural Sciences or Bachelorâs degree in Engineering or Technology or Medicine with 60% marks. (b) For Centre of Social Medicine & Community Health: Masterâs degree in Sociology, Psychology and Anthropology, Economics, Political Science, History/Social Work, Geography, Population Studies, Public Administration, Nutrition and other relevant Applied Science and Social Science subjects with 50% marks. (c) For all other Centres: Masterâs degree in the subject concerned with at least 50% marks or Masterâs degree in allied subjects or Humanities with at least 55% marks or Masterâs degree in Natural Sciences with at least 60% marks.
(B) M.Phil./Ph.D. (Master of Public health)
Eligibility: MBBS Degree with at least 50% marks and atleast one yearâs work experience after internship; or M.Sc. Degree in Nursing with atleast 50% marks and atleast one yearâs experience in Community Health Nursing.
(C) M.A. in : Economics, geography, History, political science and sociology
eligibility : (a) For M.A. in History, Political Science, Geography and Sociology: Bachelorâs degree in any discipline under 10+2+3 pattern of education with at least 45% marks. (b) For M.A. in Economics: Bachelorâs degree in any discipline under 10+2+3 pattern of education with at least 50% marks, and Mathematics either at 10+2 level or at Bachelorâs level, either as subsidiary or as honours.
IV. School of Life Sciences
(A) M.PHIL./PH.D. in areas of interdisciplinary research in molecular Biology, genetic engineering, plant biotechnology, genetics, developmental biology, cell biology, immunology, neurobiology, microbiology, radiation and cancer biology, bio-physics and structural biology.
Eligibility: M. Sc. or equivalent degree, with at least 55% marks or equivalent grades, in Biological Sciences, Bioinformatics or Physical Sciences, as well as to those with M.B.B.S or M. Tech. or M. Sc. (Agriculture) or M. Sc. (Veterinary Sciences) degree with 55% marks. Candidates having the M. Sc. or equivalent degree in allied subjects of Life Sciences, including Biochemistry, Biophysics, Biotechnology, Botany, Genetics, Microbiology, Pharmacology, Physiology, Zoology, or in Chemistry or Physics are also eligible.
(B) M.Sc. in life sciences: An integrated interdisciplinary programme in Modern Biology.
Eligibility: Bachelorâs (B. Sc. or B Tech or equivalent) in Biological, Physical or Agricultural Sciences under the 10+2+3 pattern of education with at least 55% marks.
V. School of Environmental Sciences
(A) M.PHIL./PH.D. in environmental sciences including interdisciplinary areas of biology(Ecology, biotechnology, biophysics, bioremediation), chemistry (Air, Water, Soil pollution), geology and physics.
Eligibility: M.Sc. degree or equivalent in any branch of basic or applied science or MBBS or B.Tech./B.E. with minimum 55% marks.
(B) M.Sc. in environmental sciences: an interdisciplinary course with environmental orientation, drawn from relevant areas of biological, chemical, earth and physical sciences.
Eligibility: Bachelorâs degree in any branch of basic or applied science under 10+2+3 pattern of education with at least 55% marks.
VI. School of Computer & Systems Sciences
The school offers academic programmes leading to the degrees in computer science and technology
(A) M.Phil./Ph.d. & M.Tech/Ph.d.
Eligibility: Masterâs degree in Computer Science or Mathematics or Statistics or Operational Research or in any branch of Science or Bachelorâs degree in any branch of Engineering or Master of Computer Applications (MCA) with at least 55% marks.
(B) M.C.A. (master of computer applications) : 3 year programme open to candidates with adequate competence in mathematics.
Eligibility: Bachelorâs degree in any discipline with adequate competence in Mathematics under 10+2+3 pattern of education with at least 55% marks.
VII. School of Physical Sciences
(A) Pre-Ph.D. /Ph.D. in physical sciences/Pre-Ph.D./Ph.D. in Chemical sciences. the emphasis is on topics of Chemical Physics, Inorganic, Organic and Physical Chemistry, Computational Physics, Condensed Matter Physics, Disordered Systems, Granular Materials, Mathematical Physics, Non-equilibrium Statistical Mechanics, Nonlinear Dynamics, Probability Measure, Quantum Chaos, Quantum Optics, Statistical Nuclear Physics, and String Theory. Experimental areas include Complex Fluids, Supra-molecular Chemistry, Materials Science, Superconductivity, Magnestism, Nonlinear Optics, Semiconductors, Polymers and Nanoparticle Physics, and Ultrafast Photophysical Processes in Bio and Nano-materials.
Eligibility: M.Sc. degree in Physics, Chemistry or Mathematics, with at least of 55% marks. Candidates having majored in Physics or Chemistry should have had Mathematics at least up to the B.Sc. level. Candidates majoring in Chemistry should have specialization in Organic/Inorganic/Physical Chemistry/Chemical Physics at the Masterâs level. Exceptions can be made in case of applicants with B.Tech. (Electronics/Electrical) degrees provided they successfully qualify the entrance examination.
(B) M.Sc. in Physics
Eligibility : Bachelorâs degree (with Physics as one of the subjects) under the 10+2+3 pattern of education with 55% marks in the aggregate (or in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics combined), or in Physics Honours.
VIII. School of Arts & Aesthetics
(A) M.Phil./Ph.D.: The School offers M.Phil./Ph.D. programme in three different streams - Visual Studies, Theatre and Performance Studies and Cinema Studies. (Admission to the M.Phil./Ph.D. is through a separate entrance examination for each discipline followed by a viva-voce.)
Eligibility: Masterâs degree in any discipline with at least 50% marks.
(b) M.A. in Arts & Aesthetics: The School offers M.A. programme with cross disciplinary study of the Visual, Cinematic and Performing Arts.
Eligibility: Bachelorâs degree under 10+2+3 pattern of education with at least 50% marks.
IX. School of Information Technology
(A) Pre-Ph.D/Ph.D in Computational Biology and Bioinformatics
Eligibility: (a) Masterâs Degree in any branch of Sciences such as Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Computer Science/MCA. (b) MBBS or BHMS or equivalent degree as recognized by Government Council such as MCI. (c) B.Tech or B.E. or equivalent degree in any branch of Engineering, B.Pharm degree or equivalent. Common to all three categories is a minimum requirement of 55% marks.
(B) M.Tech. in computational and systems biology
Eligibility: (a) Masterâs Degree in any branch of Sciences including Biological, Chemical, Mathematical, Physical, Statistics, Computer Sciences/MCA. (b) MBBS or BHMS or equivalent degree as recognized by Government Council such as MCI. (c) B.Tech. or B.E. or equivalent degree in any branch of Engineering, B.Pharm degree or equivalent. Common to all three categories is a minimum requirement of 55% marks and Mathematics till class XII is compulsory.
X. SCHOOL OF Biotechnology
Pre-Ph.D./ph.d. in areas of Gene Transfer and Expression in Eukaryotic system, Transcription Control and Gene Regulation, Protein Engineering, Molecular Biology of Infectious Diseases, Molecular Immunology, Protein folding and Stability, Optimization of Recombinant Protein Production, Structural Biology & Molecular Bioinformatics, and Biochemical Engineering, Molecular virology, cancer biology, molecular cell biology.
Eligibility: Masterâs Degree in Biotechnology, Biochemical Engineering, and Biochemistry, Chemistry or ny branch of Biological Sciences with at least 55% marks.
XI. Centre for Sanskrit Studies
(A) M.Phil./Ph.D. in Sanskrit
Eligibility: Masterâs degree in Sanskrit or in an allied subject (with Sanskrit up to B.A. level) with at least 55% marks.
(B) M.A. in Sanskrit
Eligibility: Bachelorâs Degree in Sanskrit or in any other subject under 10+2+3 pattern of education with at least 45% marks.
XII. Centre for Molecular Medicine
Pre-Ph.D/ Ph.D in Areas of Metobolic Disorders, Infectious and non-infectious Diseases, Diagnostics and MOLECULAR ENDOCRINOLOGY
Eligibility: Masterâs degree of recognized University/Institution in any branch of biological sciences/MBBS/BVSc./B.Pharm. with at least 55% marks.
XIII. Centre for the Study of Law and Governance
M.Phil./Ph.d. in Law and Governance
Eligibility : Masterâs degree in Political Science, Public Administration, Economics, Sociology, History, Philosophy or Law with 50% marks; or 60% in any branch of natural science.
How to Apply :
Reservation of seats: Up to 22.5 per cent (15% for SC and 7.5% for ST) of seats are reserved for SC/ST candidates respectively in all programmes of study. 3% seats are reserved for Physically Challenged (Handicapped) candidates (with a minimum of 40% disability) in each category i.e. General, SC, ST and OBC. All SC, ST and Physically Challenged (Handicapped) candidates who have passed and/or are appearing in the qualifying examination are eligible to appear in the entrance examination irrespective of their percentage of marks. 27% seats are reserved for OBC candidates (non creamy layer) subject to availability of sufficient infrastructure.
Besides, all candidates who have passed qualifying examination prescribed for admission to the concerned programme of study from the identified backward districts will be eligible for deprivation points. All Kashmiri migrants and wards/widows of certain categories of Defence Personnel will be eligible for deprivation points subject to their submitting a documentary evidence of their status (For details, refer to Chapter V of Prospectus). All female candidates are also eligible for deprivation points. Only those candidates will be eligible for deprivation points as stated above who seek admission through Entrance Examination.
Please note that: There is a different Application Form for each Category i.e. Category âAâ and Category âDâ (Admission through Entrance Examination), Category âBâ (Direct Admission to Ph.D. programmes) and Category âCâ (Admission of JRF holders). Candidates should therefore clearly indicate on the self addressed envelope, the Category for which the Application Form is required by them.
For admission through Entrance Examination under Category-A above and Certificate of Proficiency (Part-Time Programme) under Category-D above, candidates can opt upto a maximum of three Fields of Study in a single Application Form for the same level of Programmes i.e. COP(Part-Time) or B.A. (Hons.) (1st Year) or M.A./M.Sc./ MCA or M.Phil/Ph.D., Pre-Ph.D./ Ph.D., M.Tech./ Ph.D., M.P.H./ Ph.D., and are not required to submit separate Application Forms. In case a candidate submits more than one Application Form for the same level of programmes of study, his/her candidature will be rejected. However, this restriction will not apply to candidates who apply for Direct Admision to Ph.D. programme under Category-B above, JRF holders to M.Phil./Ph.D. and Pre-Ph.D./Ph.D. programmes under Category-C above and Diploma/Advanced Diploma of Proficiency (Part-Time Programmes) under Category-D above. Candidates are required to submit separate Application Form for each Field of Study for admission to B.A. (Hons.) 2nd Year under category A above, Direct Admision to Ph.D. programme under Category-B above, JRF holders to M.Phil/Ph.D. and Pre-Ph.D./Ph.D. under Category-C above and for Diploma and Advanced Diploma (Part-Time) programmes under Category-D above.
Sets of Application Form and Prospectus can be obtained (i) either personally from the Counter in the Administrative Block of the Univeristy on cash payment of Rs. 200/- per set from 10.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. and from 2.00 p.m. to 4.00 p.m. on all working days (Monday to Friday); or (ii) through post by sending crossed Bank Draft (valid for six months) for Rs. 300/- drawn in favour of Jawaharlal Nehru University payable at New Delhi alongwith a self-addressed (unstamped) envelope of the minimum size of 30 cms X 25 cms. clearly indicating the Category for which the Application Form is required on the self-addressed envelope to the Deputy registrar (admissions), Room No. 28, Administrative Block, jawaharlal Nehru university, new delhi-110067. Post Doctoral Position in Magnetic Resonance Imaging
The focus of the position will be on the development and establishment of new magnetic resonance methods for functional-, perfusion- and diffusion tensor (DTI) imaging at 9.4 Tesla and the application and development of corresponding analysis techniques for animal models (mice and rats). The successful applicant will be expected to further advance methods in arterial spin labeling and DTI at high magnetic fields and is expected to be familiar with corresponding pulse-sequence designs and post processing methods suitable for clinical research.
The candidate would also collaborate on several ongoing animal studies of schizophrenia, depression, substance abuse and other psychiatric disorders in mouse and rat models. The assistance in the general supervision of the animal scanner would also be part of the position. More information can be found at

The candidate should have a Ph.D. in physics, physical chemistry, engineering or equivalent fields. The ideal candidate has a solid background in NMR physics, signal detection and processing theory, and demonstrated hands-on experience in pulse sequence development, preferably within the Bruker Paravision programming environment. Experience in other computer languages, including C++, Matlab and IDL, is desirable.
The appointment will be initially for a period of 2 years with the option to expand the appointment. The position includes a salary following the German civil service pay guidelines (TV-L).

SELECTION PROCEDURE / APPOINTMENT
Applications will be screened and candidates found suitable will be called to appear for an interview in
Mumbai. Preference will be given to those candidates whose research interest and work experience has
relevance to the mandate of DAE. Outstation candidates will be paid sleeper class (ordinary) train fare or
actual fare, whichever is less. Candidates are advised to come prepared to stay in Mumbai for 2 to 3 days as
a few short listed candidates will be asked to undergo a medical examination on the day following the
interview. Final selection will be made from among the short listed candidates found medically fit. The
selected candidates will be offered Fellowship at BARC for an initial period of up to 3 years which may be
extendable by another 2 years based on performance and requirement in the Department.

Invitation to pursue Ph.D Programme in specialized areas of Physics, Chemistry, and Biology at the
Raja Ramanna Centre for Advanced Technology, Indore.
Raja Ramanna Centre for Advanced Technology (RRCAT), Indore, was founded in 1984 by the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) for dedicated pursuit of R&D in the areas of Accelerators, Cryogenics, Lasers, Plasma Physics, Vacuum Technology etc. Since then, the Centre has set up two Synchrotron Radiation Sources Indus-1 & Indus-2, which are national research facilities, and many smaller accelerators for radiation processing applications. The Centre has excellent cryogenic facilities as well as state-of-the-art equipments for low temperature physics measurements. A variety of laser systems, particularly high power lasers, have been built and are being used for a wide range of applications. These include gas lasers (like Copper Vapour lasers, CO2 lasers), solid state lasers (like diode pumped solid state lasers and semiconductor lasers). Lasers are deployed for the studies in the areas like biomedical applications of lasers and laser-plasma interaction. The Centre also has long standing programme in the areas of RF-superconductivity, low-temperature physics, material science, cold atom physics, non-linear optics, opto-electronics, nano-science etc.
RRCAT is a Constituent Institute of "Homi Bhabha National Institute" (HBNI), a Deemed University, and invites students with appropriate qualifications to pursue Ph.D. programme in various specialized areas of physics, chemistry and biology, listed above. As per the rules of HBNI, the Ph.D. programme consists of course work of one year duration and research work of up to 4 years duration. The Ph.D. programme will commence in September 2009. DAE Junior Research Fellowships will be offered to those selected for the pursuit of Ph.D. programme. The fellowship amount is Rs. 12000 per month for the first two years and Rs. 14000 per month for the next three years subject to satisfactory progress.
Eligibility:-
Persons having M.Sc. degree in Physics/Chemistry/Biology with minimum 60% marks and who have cleared one of the national level screening tests listed in the 'Selection Process' described below, are eligible to apply. Those applicants whose final results of M.Sc degree are awaited can also apply. In the event of selection, mark sheet of the final result would have to be submitted by November 1, 2009. Continuation in the programme will be subject to the candidate obtaining minimum 60% marks.

Selection process:

Note :
Only the candidates with a track record of atleast 60% marks in 10th and 12th and 55% in the qualifying examination will be considered. However the cut-off mak for calling the candidates for interview will depend on the number of applications received. Mere fulfillment of minimum requirement will not entail a candidate to be called for the interview.
Candidates appearing for the final year of qualifying examination have to submit proof of having qualified in the examination latest by 31st July 2009. If selected, it will be provisional and subject to production of proof of qualifying in the respective examination with desired percentage.
Candidates claiming equivalence to any of the degrees or examinations carrying fellowships mentioned in this advertisement will have to furnish satisfactory proof from appropriate authority. It is upto NBRC to accept it or not. No correspondence would be entertained in this regard

A candidate with a valid GATE score above a threshold (to be decided by the Selection Committee) in his/her own subject would be directly called for interview. However, such candidates are required to apply in the prescribed application form.
8. 2-year M.Tech. in Quality, Reliability and Operations Research : (i) Master's degree in Statistics or Master's degree in Mathematics with Probability and Statistics as major subjects or Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Technology or equivalent or PG diploma in SQC & OR from the Indian Statistical Institute and (ii) Knowledge of Mathematics at graduate level and knowledge of Physics and Chemistry at Higher Secondary level. Stipend Rs. 5000/- per month. (Offered at Kolkata).
A candidate who was asked to discontinue any of the above programmes is not eligible for readmission to the same programme.
9. Junior Research Fellowships :
(a) Statistics : (i) A good academic record with M.Stat., M.A./M.Sc. or equivalent degree in Statistics or, (ii) outstanding mathematical maturity with B.Stat./B.Math., B.A./B.Sc. or equivalent degree with Statistics as the main subject.
(b) Mathematics : (i) A good academic record with M.Stat., M.Math., M.A./M.Sc. or equivalent degree in Mathematics or, (ii) outstanding mathematical maturity with B.Stat./B.Math., B.A./B.Sc. or equivalent degree with Mathematics as the main subject.
(c) Quantitative Economics : (i) A good academic record with M.S.(QE), M.Stat., M.A./M.Sc. or equivalent degree in Statistics/ Mathematics / Economics/ Econometrics or, (ii) outstanding mathematical maturity with B.A./B.Sc. degree with Economics as the main subject. A candidate possessing a Master's degree in any subject with Mathematics/Statistics at B.A./B.Sc. (Pass) level is also eligible.
(d) Computer Science : A good academic record with M.E./ M.Tech. or equivalent degree in Electronics/ Telecommunication/ Radio Physics/ Computer Science/ Electrical Engineering/Microwave Communications/ Information Technology/Bioinformatics/Biotechnology with Mathematics as a compulsory subject at the graduate level or a good academic record with M.Sc./ M.C.A./ M.A. or equivalent degree in Physics/ Mathematics/ Statistics/ Electronic Sciences/Computer Science/ Atmospheric Science/ Information Technology/Bioinformatics/Biotechnology with Mathematics as a compulsory subject at the graduate level. Outstanding candidates having B.E./ B.Tech./ equivalent degree in the above subjects will also be eligible.
(e) Quality, Reliability and Operations Research : A good academic record with M. Tech./M.E./ M.S/M. Phil or equivalent degree in Quality/Reliability/Operations Research or a good academic record with M. Stat./M. Sc./M.A. or equivalent degree in Mathematics/Statistics/Physics with Mathematics as a compulsory subject at the graduate level. Outstanding candidates having B.E./B. Tech./equivalent degree in the above subjects will also be eligible.
(f) Biological Anthropology : A good academic record with M.Sc. in Anthropology (with specialization in Physical/Biological Anthropology)/Human Biology/ Human Genetics/ Genetics/ Molecular Genetics/ Biotechnology .
(g) Physics and Applied Mathematics : A good academic record with M.Sc. in Physics / Mathematics / Statistics.
(h) Agriculture & Ecology : A good academic record with M.Sc. in Botany (with specialization in Plant Physiology/Biochemistry)/ Environmental Science/Microbiology/Zoology/Physiology.
(i) Sociology : A good academic record with M.A./M.Sc. or equivalent degree in Sociology/ Economics/ Agricultural Economics or any other subject in Social Sciences.
(j) Human Genetics : A good academic record with M. Sc. in Biochemistry/Biophysics/Biotechnology/Molecular Biology/ Genetics/ Human Genetics/ Zoology.
(k) Psychology : A good academic record with M.A./M.Sc. in Psychology/Applied Psychology.
(l) Demography : A good academic record with Master's degree in Statistics/Demography/Economics/ Population Science/Population Studies/ Applied Mathematics.
(m) Library and Information Science : A good academic record with Associateship in Documentation and Information Science of the Indian Statistical Institute or INSDOC or Master's degree in Library and Information Science with at least 55% marks in undergraduate and post graduate degree programmes.
Fellowship for 9(a) to 9(m) : i) applicants with M.E./M.Tech. or equivalent : Rs. 14000/- per month and ii) others : Rs. 12000/- per month. A special fellowship of Rs. 15000/- per month is also available for outstanding candidates in each of the subjects: (i) Statistics, (ii) Mathematics, (iii) Computer Science, and (iv) Quantitative Economics.
Details are available in the Prospectus. 9(a) and 9(b) are offered at Kolkata, Delhi & Bangalore; 9(c) is offered at Kolkata and Delhi; 9(e) is offered at Kolkata, Delhi, Hyderabad and Chennai; 9(f) is offered at Kolkata & Hyderabad; 9(m) is offered only at Bangalore. Remaining JRF programmes are offered only at Kolkata.
Selection of candidates is based on academic record, written tests and interviews conducted by the Institute.
Due consideration is given to SC/ST/OBC/Physically Challenged candidates for all programmes from 1 to 8 above (excluding Junior Research Fellowship programmes ).
Detailed procedures for selection of the candidates who have been offered Junior Research Fellowships by the CSIR/ NBHM are available in the prospectus. Limited hostel facilities are available. Candidates who are due to complete the qualifying examinations before 01 July 2009 may also apply.
