Physical Research Laboratory (PRL), Ahemdabad has invited applications for admission to Junior Research Fellowships in the following broad scientific areas for the academic year 2012-13.

Eligibility criteria for applying to the JRF programme:
M.Sc. in one of the following subjects: (1) Physics, Space Sciences, Atmospheric Sciences, Chemistry (Physical / Nuclear / Analytical), Geology, Geophysics, Ocean Sciences and Climate Sciences.
(2) The candidate must have taken Physics and Mathematics at the Under Graduate level.
(3) A minimum of 60% marks at Bachelor’s and Master’s level are required for all candidates.
Age Limit: Not more than 25 years as on 31st December 2011 (i.e., born on or after 31.12.1986).
Selection Procedure:
Performance in the written test and the latest scores in JEST / GATE / UGC-CSIR NET - JRF, if available, will be considered for qualifying for personal interview that will follow.
Those who qualify in the interview will be selected as JRFs at PRL. Candidates whose results are awaited at the time of interview will be admitted provisionally. They will be confirmed admission in PRL subject to their securing at least 60% marks in the qualifying examination i.e. MSc.
Fellowship and other relevant facilities: Selected JRFs will be paid a fellowship of Rs.16,000/- per month which will be raised to Rs.18,000/- per month after two years, subject to a satisfactory academic review. A book grant of Rs.7,500/- per year will be given for five years to purchase books that are relevant to the research work being carried out by the Research Fellow.

The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) has invited applications from Indian Nationals, in the prescribed format, for ICAR’s 17th AIEEA-UG-2012 and AIEEA-PG-2012 on 100% seats at ICAR-Deemed Universities (Bachelors degree at NDRI Karnal only, while Masters degree at IARI, IVRI, NDRI and CIFE), and on 15% seats (tentative) for Bachelors degree and 25% seats (tentative) for Masters degree at State Agricultural Universities, Central Agricultural University Imphal, Central Universities with Agricultural Faculty (Banaras Hindu University, Viswa Bharati, Nagaland University and Aligarh Muslim University (for PG only) and SHIATS Allahabad for the academic session 2012-13.
Bachelor Degree programmes (viz. BSc / BTech / BFSc etc.) are in the subjects of Agriculture, Horticulture, Fisheries, Forestry, Home Science, Sericulture, Biotechnology, Agricultural Engineering, Dairy Technology, Food Science, Agricultural Marketing, Banking & Co-operation.
Master’s Degree programmes are in the field of Agriculture, Horticulture, Forestry, Agri. Engineering, Home Science, Biotechnology, Physical Sciences, Social Sciences, Dairy Technology, Fisheries, Veterinary, and allied sciences.
Based on the results of AIEEA-UG-2012 examination, National Talent Scholarships (NTS) will be awarded to Bachelors degree students whereas based on the merit-rank in AIEEA-PG-2012 examination, 475 ICAR-Junior Research Fellowships(JRF) will be awarded to Masters degree students.

3. Eligibility Criteria:
3.1. Age:
For AIEEA-UG-2012: Between 17 and 23 years as on 31st August 2012. (must have been born between 01.09.1989 to 01.09.1995).
For AIEEA-PG-2012: Not less than 19 years as on 31st August 2012. (must not have been born after 01.09.1993)
3.2. Qualifying Examination:
3.2.1. For AIEEA-UG-2012:
Must have passed and obtained not less than 50% marks in aggregate for admission under General, UPS and OBC categories or 40% marks in aggregate for admission under SC, ST and PH categories in 10+2 examination or equivalent/Inter (Agriculture) with PCM / PCB/ PCMB / PCA / PCH subject combinations. Candidate having a compartment/ supplementary in any of the subjects will not be eligible unless proof of having cleared the examination with requisite percentage is available. Candidates appearing for 10+2 examination can also apply but shall produce 10+2 pass certificate with required percentage marks at the time of counselling. Pass in English in 10+2 examination is essential for admission in some of the Universities.
3.2.2. For AIEEA-PG-2012:
Bachelor’s degree (or appearing in final year examination), in the field of Agriculture, Veterinary, Agricultural Engineering, Fisheries, Horticulture, Home Science, Sericulture, Dairy Technology, Dairy Engineering, Forestry, Agri. Marketing Banking and Cooperation, Food Science & Technology, Biotechnology, Process & Food Engineering, Computer Science, Basic and allied sciences under 10+2+5 or 10+2+4 years degree programmes, (Few seats are also available for candidates having Bachelors degree with 10+2+3 year degree programme) with required Overall Grade Point Average (OGPA) of 6.60/10, 3.25/5, 2.60/4 for General, OBC and UPS categories whereas for SC/ST/Physically Handicapped (PH) categories the said requirement is an OGPA of 5.60/10, 2.75/5, 2.20/4 respectively. In other cases, where grade-points are not awarded and only marks are awarded, the candidate must have secured at least 60% marks for General, OBC and UPS categories whereas for SC/ST/PH the requirement is 50% marks (Equivalence between OGPA and pecentage of marks will not be acceptable). For admission in MVSc programmes, the candidate must have completed BVSc/ BVSc & AH with Internship before the date of registration for admission in the concerned University.
4. National Talent Scholarship (NTS) is awarded to candidates selected through AIEEA-UG-2012 examination and if joining an Agricultural University located outside their state of domicile.
5. ICAR-JRF(Post Graduate Studies-PGS):
Based on the merit in the AIEEA-PG-2011 examination, about 475 ICAR-Junior Research Fellowships for postgraduate studies (ICARJRF(PGS)) in 20 major subject groups are awarded for two years in Agricultural Universities including State Agricultural Universities, CAU and CUs with agriculture faculty, SHIATS Allahabad and ICAR-DUs, provided their Bachelor degree is not from the same AU (except NDRI Karnal).That means JRF will be given to only those candidates who join the Master degree programme in the University other than from where he/she has obtained his/her Bachelor’s degree except at NDRI, Karnal where admissions for 100% seats are made on All India basis through ICAR Entrance Examination. Candidates, currently studying for their Masters degree in 1st year, can also appear in AIEEA-PG-2011 examination for securing ICAR-JRF(PGS). However, if a ICAR-JRF(PGS) holder seeks fresh admission, entire amount of fellowship received by him/her shall have to be refunded with interest and he/she will not be entitled for fresh ICAR-JRF(PGS).
6. Reservation: 15% seats in all subjects are reserved for candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes (SC) and 7.5% for Scheduled Tribes (ST). Horizontal reservation of 3% for Physically Handicapped (PH), and 2% for Under-Privileged States (UPS) category is also available. Reservation for OBC in Central Educational Institutions/ Universities will be as per Government of India/ Hon'ble SC directives/ University rules. Reservation in PH and UPS categories will be
horizontal across all categories, i.e. such candidates would draw their seat from the SC/ST/OBC/GEN categories to which they may belong.
7. Cost of Information Bulletin with Application form:
AIEEA-UG-2012: Rs. 500 for General, OBC and UPS categories and Rs. 250/- for SC, ST and PH categories.
AIEEA-PG-2012: Rs. 600 for General, OBC and UPS categories and Rs. 300/- for SC, ST and PH categories.
In addition, Rs. 25 per Bulletin would be charged as handling charges plus service tax as applicable, in case of purchase against cash, whereas Rs. 50 per Bulletin should be added in the Bank Draft amount towards postal expenses, if requested to be sent by post.

Candidates can obtain Information Bulletin with Application Form by sending a written request (on plain paper) along with an Account Payee Bank draft of the amount specified above and also an unstamped self addressed envelope (size 30cm x 25cm). Applications have been invited for the Entrance Examination for admission to LL.M Course - 2011-12 in the Government Law Colleges at Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam, Thrissur and Kozhikode.
Eligibility for Admission
(i) Nativity: Applicant should be an Indian citizen of Kerala Origin.
(ii) Academic qualifications: Candidates who have passed the L.L.B. examination (5 year / 3 year course) with a minimum of 50% marks from the Universities in Kerala or other Universities recognized by the Universities in Kerala as equivalent thereto are eligible for admission. Candidates appearing / appeared for the regular Final year LL.B. examination can also apply for the Entrance Examination. Such candidates become eligible for admission only if they produce the Provisional Degree / Degree Certificate of the qualifying examination and the mark lists of all parts of the qualifying examination at the time of allotment of seats.
(iii) Age: There is no upper age limit for admission to LL.M Course.
Entrance Examination: The Entrance Examination will be conducted at Thiruvananthapuram, on 15.01.2012 (Sunday). The Questions of the Entrance Examination will be of objective type. There shall be two papers each of 90 minutes duration, from 9.30 am to 11.00 am and 11.30 am to 1.00 pm. Each paper will have 100 questions. The questions shall be of the standard of LL.B Examination.
Application forms: Application forms and Prospectus can be downloaded from the official website of Commissioner for Entrance Examinations, www.cee-kerala.org . Keralites residing inside Kerala State, can remit the application fee (Rs.800/- Rupees Eight Hundred only) in any branch of the State bank of Travancore using the Chalan provided on page No.5 of the application form. The original Chalan contained in page No.5 shall be attached with the application form duly signed and authorized by Bank authorities on remittance of application fees. Keralites residing outside Kerala State, can remit the application fee by attaching a Demand Draft for the requisite amount drawn on a Nationalized Bank in favour of the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations, payable at Thiruvananthapuram.
Last date and time for receipt of filled-in application forms: Completed applications with all the documents should be forwarded to the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations, Housing Board Buildings, 5th Floor, Santhinagar, Thiruvananthapuram – 695 001 either by Registered Post or by hand delivery so as to reach him before 5 pm on 30.12.2011.
After submission of the application, candidates will not be allowed to include any information in the application form or submit any certificate claiming reservation or other benefits under any circumstances.
Candidates must note that they have to obtain the required certificates in the body of the application form itself, wherever necessary. The certificates that are attached separately in the application form will not be considered. Admit cards can be downloaded from the website www.cee.kerala.gov.in from 09.01.2012.
The centralized allotment of seats will be notified after the publication of the results of the entrance examination. Individual intimation will not be sent to candidates in this regard. All certificates in support of various claims preferred in the application form will have to be submitted at the time of allotment. No extension of time will be granted for this.
The Entrance Examination and subsequent allotments will be based on the various provisions laid down in the prospectus, approved by Government. IIST-PDF Fellowship will be Rs. 40,000/- pm (all inclusive). PDF Scholars will be required to assist the department in research and laboratory related activity. The Fellows are encouraged to publish their research findings in reputed journals jointly with collaborating faculty, following established practices of paper authorship and publications. At the end of the tenure the fellow will make a comprehensive monograph of the total research activity undertaken under the PDF programme. During the tenure at IIST, the Post Doctoral Fellow will be governed by the leave and other administrative norms applicable to full time research scholars of IIST.



1.3 Application Procedure
Applications in the prescribed format will be received until 15th January 2012. Applicants are required to send CV in the specific format and also submit a research proposal within the frame work of the area advertised for the PDF. The research proposal should be of 3 to 5 pages and should contain the following information.
a) brief statement of the problem
b) aim of the research project
c) review of relevant literature
d) preparatory work of the candidate
e) brief outline of the methodology and steps in the execution of the project
f) relevant bibliography
While preparing the research proposal the prospective candidates are advised to go through the specified area of PDRO placed at our website www.iist.ac.in. For any clarification in this regard the applicant may contact the concerned IIST faculty identified in the PDRO.

1.5 Selection procedure
Short listed applicants will be invited to present a seminar on the topic of research followed by discussion with a specialist committee. The specialist committee will make their recommendation ranking the PDF applicants in each research area in the order of merit. The PDF is initially awarded for one year and is extendable to a second year based on the review of the progress of the research work by the end of the first year by an expert committee. Outstation candidates will be paid to and fro 3 AC class train fare by shortest route, or actual fare (whichever is lower) for attending the seminar / discussion.

Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology envisions the integration of Space Technology and Space Science educational programs with basic and applied research for meeting the national R&D requirements of science and technology in general and of the Indian Space Programme in particular. The institute provides a vibrant research atmosphere and offers doctoral and post-doctoral programmes.
Applications are invited from highly motivated candidates for admission to the Ph.D. Programme starting in February 2012, in the areas of Aerospace Engineering, Avionics, Chemistry, Earth and Space Sciences, Humanities, Mathematics and Physics.
Eligibility
Minimum Qualifications:
Masters Degree in the relevant area with first class or equivalent. However, outstanding candidates with Bachelor-s degree in Engineering with an excellent academic record and aptitude for research may be considered for direct admission to the Ph.D. Programme. Candidates with Master-s degree in basic science subjects and Humanities must be NET qualified (JRF) to be considered for the Ph.D. programme.
Age Limit: Applicant should be below 28 years as on 20th Dec 2011. Age relaxation is applicable as per Govt.of India Rules.

Research Fellowship:
The Scholars selected for IIST Ph.D. programme will be given a fellowship of Rs.16,000 / Rs.18,000 for the first two years based on the qualifications.
After two years of research experience, their performance will be evaluated by a review committee constituted by Director, IIST. Based on the review, the fellowship amount may be enhanced to Rs.18,000/Rs.20,000 respectively.
The scholars will be required to assist the Departments in academic activities as and when required.
The scholars will have to pay tuition / registration fee and fee for the boarding / lodging/medical facilities etc., as per IIST rules.
Selection Procedure

Candidates will be short-listed based on Academic records and other relevant criteria like research experience, National Eligibility Tests, etc.
Selection will be based on a written test followed by an interview.
List of shortlisted candidates for written test and the dates of written test / interview will be displayed in IIST website by 1st week of Jan 2012.
All short-listed candidates will be required to appear for a written test in their relevant areas.
Written test of two hours duration will be conducted at IIST, Trivandrum during 3rd week of Jan 2012.
The written test will aim to evaluate the basic understanding of the relevant subject area. The test may contain both descriptive and objective questions.
Candidates qualified in the written test will be required to appear for an interview the following day.
Selected candidates will be intimated within a week of the final interview. Results will also be displayed in the website.
Outstation candidates will be paid to and fro sleeper class train fare by shortest route, or actual fare (whichever is lower) for attending the test / interview.
