Admission to Ph.D Program

Indian Institute of Science Education & Research (USER-Kolkata) is set up by the Government of India at par with IITs and IISc. The main aim of the institute is to develop high quality research education in basic sciences, both experimental and theoretical, in the form of:

• An integrated 5 years Master's curriculum following Class XII of our School System (or its equivalent)
• Post B.Sc. integrated Ph.D Curriculum (expected to start from 2009) and
• A full Ph.D Program after M.Sc. or equivalent degree Applications are invited from bright young 1st class M.Sc / MS candidates with CSIR UGC NET including NET (LS),or GATE (with valid score) qualification or any other all Indian level test like JEST etc. for Ph.D Program at USER, which may be carried out in collaboration with neighbouring institutes, universities etc., until the Institute gets its own sprawling campus at Haringhata, Kalayani.

Each selected candidate will get a fellowship as under:

Fellowship (for first two years) : Rs. 12,000/-p.m

From Third year : Rs. 14,000/-

House Rent Allowance p.m as per UGC norms

Indian Institute of Science Education And Research Age should not exceed 28 years (as on coming 31st March).
