ADMISSION NOTICE
Applications in the prescribed form are invited for admission to the courses of study in the North Eastern Hill University for the academic session commencing from March 2008.
The Courses offered are as indicated below against each of the Departments/Centre.

Eligibiligy Criteria :
Research Courses: Candidates securing 55% marks in the Master Degree Examination of any recognized University are elibible to apply. Relaxation of 5% is applicable in respect of SC/ST candidates.

For admission to Professional Courses:
Eligibility Criteria for M.B.A.: A bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized University with minimum 50% marks in the aggregate (45% marks in case of ST/SC). Those appearing in the final examination and expecting their results by July 15, 2008 may also apply.

HOW TO APPLY: (Eligible candidates need to appear any of the MAT Tests (May, September, December, 2007 and February 2008). Candidates who are willing to take admission in the MBA Programme are required to fill up the NEHU application form enclosing their respective MAT score). Prescribed application forms with Prospectus can be obtained in person from the Receptionist, Administrative Building, Permanent Campus, Shillong-793022 or from the Office of the Pro-Vice Chancellor, NEHU, Tura Campus, Tura – 794001 during office hours on payment of Rs.100/- through Banker's Cheque/Bank Draft drawn in favour of "North Eastern Hill University". Request for admission form and Prospectus by post should be addressed to the Dean Students Welfare, NEHU, Permanent Campus, Shillong – 793022, accompanied by a self addressed envelop of 26 x 16 cm affixing Rs.25/- postage stamp thereon and enclosing D.D for Rs.100/. The application form/Prospectus fee is not reimbursable. The admission form may also be downloaded from NEHU Website www.nehu.ac.in and filled-in application form alongwith the Demand Draft can be sent to the Dean Students' Welfare, NEHU, Shillong-793022.

LAST DATE FOR SUBMISSION OF APPLICATION FORMS: Application forms duly filled-in are to be submitted to the Head of the respective Department/Centre on or before 25th March, 2008. Application received after the specified date will not be entertained. For other details the candidates may consult the prospectus of the University.

Location Details: Shillong, the capital city of the state of Meghalaya, is a hill station located at approximately 2000m height from sea level. The university main campus is spread over 1024 acres of picturesque, gently undulating and thickly wooded land. It has temperate climate and is a major tourist attraction. The state of Meghalaya is full of natural lakes, reserve forests and water falls. Meghalaya is located in the north-eastern part of India, the latter being one of the biodiversity hotspots. India's NE region is also rich in social and cultural diversity.
Recognition: NEHU is accredited by National Accreditation agency as a Four Star university.

UG Level: 21 undergraduate degree modules offered by Colleges affiliated to NEHU.

Master's Degree programs in area like history, sociology, anthropology, life sciences have a very substantial content devoted to the understanding of India's North-East and its neighbouring areas like, Myanmar, Thailand, Bangladesh and Bhutan.Undergraduate courses are run by affiliated colleges. The university has 54 affiliated colleges which run 21 undergraduate degree programmes in sciences, arts, humanities, management and engineering.
Other Details about this Institute
This University was established in 1973 by Act of Parliament. We have produced a substantial body of first rate research material in areas of sciences, environmental studies, biodiversity, understanding indigenous cultures and their historical, linguistic and philosophical links. The university runs only MA, MSc, MPhil, PhD, and Certificate & Diploma courses. There are 22 Post Graduate Departments, four Centres of Studies and a biodiversity cell. Each Department/ Centre has highly qualified faculty and involved in first rate research. Several faculty members have foreign collaboration in research.
Infrastructure facilities: This Institute have well equipped research labs, central Instrumentation facilities, sophisticated instruments centre, a university science instrumentation centre. We have our own Voice-Data Network and all sections of the university are linked. All labs have internet connection. There is a well-equipped Central Library in addition to departmental libraries.
Other Amenities: University buses for transport, Co-operative store, guest house, play ground, housing for faculty, and a central school for childrens' education up to class XII.
