Qualify for PhD Computer Science via JEST-2010
Candidates applying to the PhD programme in Computer Science at CMI for the academic year starting August 2010 can qualify for the interview on the basis of their performance in the Joint Entrance Screening Test (JEST-2010) in Theoretical Computer Science, without writing the CMI entrance examination.
If you have written JEST-2010 and wish to apply to the PhD programme in Computer Science at CMI, you should fill out the CMI application form in full detail. If you qualify directly for the interview based on your performance JEST-2010, you will receive a notification from us. If you do not hear from us, you must write the CMI entrance examination in order to qualify.
Application Procedure
To obtain application forms and information brochures by post, send a DD for Rs. 300/- in favour of Chennai Mathematical Institute payable at Chennai to the address given here. Indicate clearly your name, address and the programme(s) you are applying for.
Alternatively, you can download an application form online. For online applications, the application fee is the same: one DD for Rs. 300/- in favour of Chennai Mathematical Institute, to be mailed along with your completed application form. You will be asked to enter the DD details in the online form. Applying to multiple programmesYou may apply to multiple programmes. If you are applying to more than one programme, you need to send only a single DD for Rs. 300/-, whether you request a form by post or apply online. The entrance examinations on Thursday, May 27, 2010, are scheduled as follows:
Morning session, 09:30-12:30 | BSc Mathematics and Computer Science
MSc/PhD Mathematics | ||
Afternoon session, 14:00-17:00 | BSc Physics
MSc/PhD Computer Science
MSc Applications of Mathematics |
The entrance examination for MSc/PhD in Computer Science is at the same time as the examination for MSc in Applications of Mathematics. If you wish to apply for both these programmes, you should fill out both forms but you should write the exam for MSc in Applications of Mathematics. Based on your performance in that exam, you will be called for an interview to finalise your admission to MSc/PhD in Computer Science.
