Admission to Bachelor of Engineering (BE)

Introduction:

Thanthai Periyar the foreseer of modern era, a social revolutionary and a very great thinker had been emphasizing the importance of education all through his life. He dedicated his life for the welfare of those who were deprived of educational opportunities, besides uprooting the deep rooted superstitious beliefs, customs, irrationalism and injustice in the society. He strongly believed and advocated that offering education to a man is education to him only whereas education to a woman is education to the whole family. He succeeded in his endeavour by establishing educational institutions in the state. After THANTHAI PERIYAR and ANNAI MANIAMMAIYAR, their illustrious successor Dr.K.VEERAMANI M.A.,B.L., has taken up the Herculean task of ushering young women into technical education and to a new era of scientific temperament by founding Periyar Maniammai College of Technology for Women on 22nd November 1988. It has had its reputation as the first Women Engineering College in the whole of World.
With a constant and steady progress, the College has been elevated to the status of Periyar Maniammai University (Under Section 3 of UGC Act, 1956) on 17.08.2007 to fulfill the aspirations of Thanthai Periyar continually. Bearing this as a Primary objective, the University is stepping into its very first year with a vision to cater to the technical knowledge resources needed for the society for its overall development.

Eligibility:

• A pass in 10+2 examination or a pass in one of the HSC (Vocational Stream) with Engineering/Technology Vocational subjects and any ONE or TWO of related subjects like Mathematics, Physics, or Chemistry with minimum marks in the relevant subjects.
• Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) candidates are eligible for all the programmes. Physics, Chemistry and Biology (PCB) candidates are eligible only for Biotechnology and Petro Chemical Technology programmes.
• Candidates seeking admission should have appeared for the Periyar Maniammai University Entrance Test â€" 2009 (PMUET â€" 2009).

Application Form:

Applications can be obtained from the Main University Campus at Thanjavur or from the information centres listed below or can be downloaded from our website or from any core banking service branch of Indian Overseas Bank.

Application Fee:

Rs. 750/- (For SC/ST candidates Rs. 500/-) in the form of crossed DD or IPO or IOB Challan drawn in favour of “The Registrar, PMU, Vallam, Thaniavur” payable at Vallam, Thaniavur.

How to apply:

Application form must be submitted to The Registrar, Periyar Maniammai Vallam, Thanjavur- 613403, Tamil Nadu along with the Application fee (if sending the downloaded application) and a self addressed stamped envelope of 27cm x 12cm size.)
