RECRUITMENT for Project Assistant, Junior Research Fellow, Senior Research Fellow, & Research Associate
Applications are invited from prospective candidates for recruitment in different categories of project staff for various projects being undertaken and to be started in future. The positions are purely temporary and the tenure will depend on the requirement of the projects. Normally the tenure is between 1 to 3 years The appointment shall be co-terminus with the duration of the project and the candidate shall have no right/ claim for appointment on regular basis.
This is a general advertisement and is not pertinent to any specific project. An application received complete with relevant information will be duly scrutinized. If the qualifications, experience ( if required), age etc, are found to be suitable for a particular project the applicant will be informed to appear for an interview for possible selection in an appropriate category. A panel of selected candidates will be formed which will remain operative for a period of one year.
Categories of positions :-
The following categories of positions may be available from time to time depending upon the requirement of project(s):-
i) Project Assistant( Level I to V ) ( Age Limit : 25/28*, *28/30 , 32, 35, 37 )
ii) Junior Research Fellow ( Age limit : 28)
iii) Senior Research Fellow ( Age limit : 32)
iv) Research Associate ( Age limit : 35 )
* For Network Projects
( Age limit is relaxable for SC/ST/OBC candidates as per GOI instructions )
Qualification:
The qualifications, depending on the post may be any one of the following. Experience is sometimes preferred - and therefore be clearly indicated.
i) 1st Class B. Sc. in Chemistry / Physics
ii) 1st Class Diploma in Mechanical/ Electrical/ Electronics
iii) 1st Class M. Sc. in Inorganic Chemistry/ Physical Chemistry/ Organic Chemistry/ Physics/ Applied Physics
iv) 1st Class BE or B. Tech. in Ceramics/ Metallurgy/ Materials Science/ Electrical /Electronics/ Chemical/ Mechanical
v) ME or M. Tech. in Ceramics/ Metallurgy/ Materials Science/ Electrical/ Electronics/ Chemical /Mechanical with 1st Class in BE or B. Tech.
vi) Ph. D. in Science in Inorganic Chemistry/ Physical Chemistry/ Organic Chemistry/ Physics/, Applied Physics with 1st Class in M. Sc.
vii) Ph. D. in Engineering in Ceramics/Metallurgy/ Materials Science/ Electrical/ Electronics/ Chemical/ Mechanical with first class in B. E. or B. Tech.
Note: For externally funded projects / contract research projects the candidates should have at least 55% marks in qualifying examination for Project Assistants Level –II and above. For Project Assistant(Level-I) – minimum requirement is 50% in qualifying examination. In case of SC/ST candidates these criteria shall be relaxed by 5% .
Emoluments
The stipend depending on the post being offered, qualifications, experience etc. normally lies in the range of Rs.7000/- to Rs.25,000/- per month for Project Assistants(Level I & V ) and for other categories normally ranges from Rs.10,000/- to Rs.16,000/- .-

Areas of activities of CGCRI :
The projects being undertaken in CGCRI are related to materials science & engineering – mainly in the areas of ceramics, ceramics based composites and glass. The projects can be broadly categorized as follows :
a) Projects in frontline areas such as nano-sicence & technology through Sol-gel & other technique, fibre optics, photonic crystal fibre, fibre lasers, advanced bioceramic materials ( for stents , drug delivery etc.), specialized glasses separation technologies ( including nanofilter & ion-conducting ceramics ), diamond like coating and free standing diamond etc.
b) Projects required for strategic sectors for development of materials which are strategically important and not readily available ( engineering ceramics, glass etc.)
c) Projects which are related to National thrust areas, such as energy ( Solid Oxide Fuel Cell, Lithium ion battery ).
d) Projects on sensor technology ( including ceramic based and optical fibre based sensors)
e) Projects in Societal sectors such as bio-ceramics for implants & prostheses, As & Fe removal (water) plants.
f) High temperature ceramics & refractories
g) Traditional Ceramics
