Eligibility
• For BEd English – BA with English language and literature with 45% marks for Part III or BA / BSc with 50% marks for Part I English and not less than 50% marks for MA in English Language and Literature or BA with three mains- communicative / functional English; English Literature and Public Administration with 45% marks or Communicative / Functional English, Literature and Journalism with 45% marks or BA English Language and Literature (Re-structured), Communicative / Functional English and English Language Teaching with 45% marks.
• BEd Malayalam – BA Malayalam Language and Literature with 45% marks for Part III or BA / BSc with 50% marks for Part II Malayalam and 50% marks for MA in Malayalam Language and Literature with 45% marks or BA with Malayalam, Mass Communication and Translation with 45% marks (re-structured).
• BEd Hindi – BA Hindi Language and Literature with 45% marks for Part III or BA / BSc with 50% marks for Part II Hindi and 50% marks for MA Hindi Language and Literature or BA Vocational degree in Functional Hindi with 45% marks.
• BEd Sanskrit – BA with Sanskrit Language and Literature with 45% marks in Part III or BA / BSc with 50% marks for Part II Sanskrit and 50% marks for Masters degree in Sanskrit Language and Literature.
• BEd Arabic – BA with Arabic Language and Literature with 45% marks for Part III or BA / BSc with 50% marks for part II Arabic and 50% marks for MA Arabic Language and Literature.
• BEd Mathematics – BSc Mathematics / Statistics main with 45% marks for Part III. Those who studied statistics main should have studied Mathematics as one of the subsidiary subjects or BSc Vocational degree with 50% marks with the following combinations - (1) Optical Instrumentation, Physics and Mathematics (2) Electrical Equipment maintenance, Physics and Mathematics (3) Instrumentation, Physics and Mathematics (4) Industrial Chemistry, Chemistry and Mathematics (5) Computer Applications, Mathematics and Statistics or BCA Vocational degree with 50% marks with the subject combination – Computer Application, Mathematics and Statistics.
• BEd Physical Science – BSc Physics or Chemistry as one of the main subjects with Chemistry and Physics as one of the subsidiary subjects securing not less than 45% marks under Part III. The two main and three main degree holders of other Universities will be considered for admission to BEd Physical Sciences, only if they have studied both Physics and Chemistry or BSc in Polymer Chemistry (main) with 50% marks.
• BEd Natural Science – BSc Zoology or Botany as one of the main subjects with Botany and Zoology as one of the subsidiary subjects securing not less than 45% marks under Part III. Those who have studied with two main and three main degree of other universities should have studied Botany and Zoology.
• BEd Social Science – BA History main with 45% marks for Part III or BA Politics / Economics / Islamic History under Part III (45% marks) with at least one paper in History as subsidiary.
• BEd Commerce – M.Com with 50% marks.
• BEd Home Science – MSc Home Science with 50% marks.
Selection will be on the basis of marks obtained in the qualifying examination together with weightage marks for Post graduation, Teaching experience, Sports, Locality, NCC/ NSS etc.
How to Apply
Prescribed application form and prospectus can be obtained from the KUCTE Centers on payment of Rs. 20/- through pay-in-slip at the University cash counter or obtain through post by sending a requisition letter along with a DD for Rs. 30/- drawn in favour of the Finance Officer, University of Kerala issued by SBT branches payable at SBT Service Branch, Trivandrum and a self addressed long cover affixing Rs.10/- postage stamp (Those from outside Kerala, should submit DD from SBI branches payable at SBI Main Branch,Thiruvananthapuram) to the Principal of the concerned KUCTE Centers.
Name and Address, purpose of remittance should be noted in the reverse side of the DD. A registration fee of Rs. 200/- remitted through pay-in-slip at the University Cash Counter or through DD of Rs. 210/- should be send along with each duly filled in application form and its details may be shown in the application.
Separate application forms are issued for each district. Those applying for the same optional subject at different centers of one district need submit only one application. Those who desires to apply more than one district should submit separate application issued for that district.
Duly filled in application along with DD and documents in support of eligibility should send to the Deputy Registrar (Acad. III), University of Kerala, Palayam, Thiruvananthapuram – 695 034 so as to reach on or before 31st July 2009.
Tuition fee is Rs. 18000/- and Total fee of Rs. 21075/- should be remitted at the time of admission.
